Chad – What Happened to Sylvie?

Grant Amato became obsessed with Bulgarian webcam model Silvie during his rehabilitation period. He started buying her clothes and sex toys with money from his family’s money while sending her tips as well.

Frustrated and angry, Amato’s father laid out a series of rules for his son: get a job, stop communicating with Silvie and pay back the $200,000 that was owed them.

What Happened to Sylvie?

Sylvie was a Bulgarian webcam model who Grant Amato had fallen in love with. He used his family’s money to pay her for her videos and send her clothes and sex toys in an effort to appear wealthy and successful online.

She played an integral role in the case, with jurors being shown her explicit photos. Additionally, Amato sent her messages and emails begging for more video clips from her.

Grant’s parents sent him to rehab, and he agreed not to communicate with Silvie anymore. Additionally, social media and his computer were banned as well. Grant had to get a job, go through therapy, and cease communicating with Silvie according to a list of rules his father provided.

He failed to keep his promise, and instead used family money to pay her and buy clothes and sex toys. According to The Orlando Sentinel, he even stole $2,000 from a hospital in an effort to support his obsession with her.

Chad Amato and Margaret Amato discovered Grant had stolen their money, so they set out to stop him. Unfortunately, both were found guilty of first-degree murder and are currently serving life sentences in prison.

The Amatos lived in a home on Sultan Circle near their parents’ residence in Chuluota, Florida. Although the house was filled with guns, marijuana and paraphernalia, no fingerprints or other evidence was found on the doors – and crime scene analysts testified they didn’t process the garage-door keypad for fingerprints either.

Cody Amato was Grant’s best friend and shared his aspiration of becoming a nurse anesthetist. He had also grown up alongside Margaret’s mom, attending Timber Creek High School together on the weightlifting team together.

They both had grandiose plans to purchase matching BMWs and reside together in their family’s home in Chuluota. Their aim was to create a happy family environment where they could live out their childhood fantasies in comfort, just as they did as children.

What Happened to Grant?

Grant Amato was an easygoing guy who loved gaming and live streaming. He lived with his parents, Chad and Margaret Amato, as well as brother Cody. In his dreams he wanted to become a nurse anesthetist and own a home filled with matching BMWs.

After being fired from his job in 2018, Grant fell into deep depression and isolation. He spent countless hours alone in his bedroom playing video games and live-streaming on his computer, gradually losing weight as his skin tone darkened; moreover, his eyes started looking bloodshot with age.

He began spending a considerable amount of money on Silvie, a Bulgarian webcam model whom he met online. To show her that he loved her, he sent her gifts and sex toys. Additionally, he depleted his family’s bank account – spending $200,000 within three months – to fund his obsession with her.

Grant’s family ultimately decided to send him off for rehab. They gave him a list of rules to abide by: find work, stop communicating with Silvie and begin therapy.

On January 5, 2019, Grant returned home. But upon reaching his mother’s refrigerator, a note had been left for him: “You chose a stranger – physically nonexistent over your family.”

Chad and Cody became furious upon discovering the note, and threatened to kill him if they didn’t get their way. Instead of making any move towards justice, they shot him in the head, ending his life.

After the shootings, police discovered all of their belongings inside their home. No signs of forced entry were present, but several electronic devices had been left behind. According to Seminole County Sheriff’s Office digital forensics expert Geraldine Blay, these items helped create a timeline of events on the day of their deaths.

Prosecutors said Grant Amato had an obsession with Sylvie Ventsislavova, a Bulgarian webcam model whom he affectionately called “Silvie.” He paid her hundreds of thousands of dollars for videos but concealed this fact from his family members by telling them it was all being used to promote himself on live-streaming website Twitch.

Grant was found guilty in July 2019 of the murders of his family, including his mother, father and brother. He committed these horrific crimes out of revenge for keeping Silvie away from him; she had an intense bond with Grant which he used against them all.

What Happened to Chad?

On the first season of Chad, viewers witnessed Grant Amato (played by Adam Pally) become obsessed with Sylvie, a Bulgarian webcam model. After starting to communicate online with her, he sent her around $150,000 in credit cards and money from his family’s savings account. However, Grant struggled under the pressure and ultimately ended up in jail after three weeks.

At Amato’s trial, the jury was shown intimate photos and videos of Sylvie that he had purchased with his family’s money. It was an intensely emotional trial that underscored the significance of mental health.

Amato was infatuated with both Sylvie and her son Cody. Cody, a popular high school athlete, had aspirations of attending nursing school and eventually specialized as a nurse anesthetist.

Once his parents learned of Grant’s relationship with Sylvie, they attempted to intervene. But after Grant persisted in speaking to her, his father issued an ultimatum: either stop communicating with her or leave the house.

Grant did as his father requested, but soon things started getting serious. Grant was sent off to rehab and required to follow a set of rules including paying back his debts and stopping communication with Silvie. Additionally, he needed to secure employment and stop using his mother’s cell phone for communication with Sylvie.

Grant’s family worked to protect him, but he was eventually caught and arrested in January 2019. He faced charges of three counts of first-degree murder that carried the death penalty.

After his arrest, Grant Amato was held on $750,000 bond in a Florida court. He intended to use funds from his parents’ estate as part of his payment plan; however, the judge denied this request and asked if anyone might know any millionaires willing to help him exit prison early.

At trial, Amato’s defense team noted that his mental illness made him susceptible to manipulation and that he was unaware of the money sent to Sylvie.

Chad was shocked to learn the truth. His parents tried to push him into rehab and gave Grant access to Silvie’s phone, yet Chad felt betrayed that they had spoken with her and revealed the truth about him. Anger flared within him at being forced into rehabilitation as well as frustration that Grant had given access to Silvie’s phone. What Happened to Cody?

Grant Amato and his family had been an incredibly close-knit unit for years. They loved sports, often attending Florida Gators games together, and lived a relatively normal life despite the tragedy that befell them in 2016.

One day, however, everything changed. Grant became obsessed with Silvie – a webcam model from Bulgaria – and began spending an excessive amount of money on her. Additionally, he began stealing from his family to maintain this lavish lifestyle.

He was ultimately sent to a rehab facility and his family set out a list of rules for him to abide by, such as finding work and attending therapy. Furthermore, they ordered him not to communicate with the Bulgarian woman any longer; however, she persisted in doing so.

On his release from rehab, he failed to abide by these rules and was arrested. Additionally, he had stolen his father’s credit card information.

In an effort to support his addiction, Amato began stealing from his family and using the funds for items like clothes, sex toys and more. Ultimately, he amassed more than $200,000 in debt.

Amato then went to his aunt’s house and stole her credit card information, which he used for purchasing more items. Additionally, he visited a video game store and purchased additional gaming equipment.

In January 2019, Grant’s family discovered he had been communicating with a Bulgarian woman through the internet and called police. He was instructed to cease communication, leading his father, Chad Amato, to become furious upon learning of it.

Grant Amato was then charged with three counts of premeditated first-degree murder. In July 2019, he was found guilty and received a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

As you can see, Grant Amato had serious mental health and addiction issues. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; his family was deeply concerned for him and tried to intervene on numerous occasions. After being in several psychiatric hospitals, he ultimately committed suicide – an indication of just how powerless Grant was to control himself.
